Available for remote work

I'm Avel, a full-stack engineer. Payments, online stores and real-time apps.

For six years I've built and maintained production systems end to end: React, Next.js and TypeScript on the front; Node.js, Express and PHP services behind them, with REST and GraphQL APIs, payment integrations and webhooks over MySQL, PostgreSQL and MongoDB. I've also built on ServiceNow, writing Business Rules and Script Includes and automating service-request workflows. Today I freelance for clients in Australia and the Philippines, most recently taking a WooCommerce store live.

More about me

I started in 2019 with part-time WordPress work: site speed, SEO and custom plugins. Since then I've worked across the stack, from Node.js services behind ExpressPay's branch system to real-money gaming inside the GCash app and a Telegram bot with in-chat payments. From ExpressPay onward every team I joined ran Agile sprints; from WBridges onward we also reviewed each other's code.

Outside client work I build my own apps to learn something new each time. The latest is AMYGO, the 3D gym at the top of this page, in React and three.js.

Selected work

Experience

WordPress and back end first, then front end, now both.

    • Took Signal One International live on WooCommerce on shared cPanel hosting with no SSH, carrying across ~5,100 orders, 1,156 variations and a 213MB database without losing an order.
    • Traced live Stripe webhook failures to a signing-secret mismatch and reconciled the orders paid during the outage, then debugged a second third-party integration: transactional email bypassing the mail service for wp_mail.
    • Ran pre-launch QA across checkout, tax and search, surfacing GST calculated without shipping, a missing Australian Terms and Conditions page and SKU prefix collisions in search.
    • Upgraded the production stack from PHP 7 to 8, resolved Elementor and page-cache conflicts serving stale HTML, and wrote handover documentation for the client's team, including the correct cache-clear sequence.
    • Rebuilt transformingcircle.com's devotional library from one long page into a card-indexed set of pages on WordPress and Jetpack VideoPress.
